As Texans, we pride ourselves on creating the best tasting foods, which is evident with how much ice cream our great state consumes.
Out of the best ice cream in each state, Food & Wine Magazine selected Lick as the top in Texas. The company has been around since 2011 and was founded in Austin by Chad Palmatier and Anthony Sobotik.
Lick prides themselves on their collection of off-the-wall flavors like their wildly popular Lemon Lavender and Roasted Beet with Fresh Mint.
Author David Landsel said the Roasted Beet flavor was “a combination of locally harvested beets and beautiful fresh mint results in a beautifully flavored bright purple ice cream that you won’t soon forget,” as reported by San Antonio Current.
Lick’s website claims they are “honest,” because they incorporate pure ingredients without artificial colors, flavors, preservatives, or high fructose corn syrup. For them, it is not about their products only tasting good, but also that they are good for you.
The milk used in their ice cream comes from family-owned dairies located in Texas and Wisconsin such as premium quality milk and cream from Austin’s Mill-King Dairy. All sauces, syrups, cookies, and cakes are made in-house. The company prioritizes sustainability as well by using only compostable cups, spoons, and napkins at every location.
Seasonal flavors inspired by Texas include Cilantro Lime, Dewberry Corn Cobbler, and Sweet Persimmon.
For those wishing to taste Lick’s delicious ice cream, go and visit any of their three San Antonio locations at 312 Pearl Parkway, 639 Hemisfair Blvd. and 17635 La Cantera Parkway.
