As if Jaws was not scary enough… now viewers can watch the thrilling movie while floating in the water.
Alamo Drafthouse recently announced its plans to host its special “Jaws on the Water” event this summer in Austin. Brave horror fans are in for a real treat after the event was canceled last summer due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Alamo Drafthouse has partnered with High Beam Events and Action Pack Entertainment to bring the unforgettable screening experience back to life. The event is set to take place at Volente Beach on Lake Travis.
The experience is said to include a “huge inflatable outdoor screen… placed at the water’s edge with intrepid viewers watching the movie while floating in inner tubes, with who-knows-what swimming in the inky depths below.
As everyone watches Chief Brody and crew on the hunt for the Great White, floaters might feel something "tug on their toes as scuba divers provide an added thrill to the proceedings.”
Due to COVID-19 guidelines, organizers were not able to provide collectible inner tubes for audience members. So, all are encouraged to bring a tube or inflatable device.
Doors will open at 5:00 p.m., allowing time for guests to play on the beach or grab a bite to eat. Capacity is limited to accommodate for social distancing among guests.
The event is set to kick off on July 3rd and occur for three consecutive Saturdays, including the 10th and 17th, as reported by Bloody Disgusting.
Guests may begin purchasing their tickets here.
